3-Day Mid-Century TV Chair Restoration and Upholstery Workshop- EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
Course Overview:
This intensive 3-day workshop is designed to immerse participants in the world of mid-century furniture restoration and upholstery. Participants will learn the art of assessing, restoring, and upholstering a classic mid-century TV chair, resulting in a beautifully revitalised piece of furniture. Some self-directed work outside of workshop hours may be required to complete steps.
DAY 1: Introduction to mid-century TV chairs, styles Tools and materials overview
Safety precautions in restoration Chair assessment: Identifying structural issues and damage
Stripping the chair of its old upholstery and finish
Prep and refinish the chair's timber frame
Please note that you are not expected to complete all of the timber restoration within the course hours , you might need to finish this work at home with the provided supplies. This will not impact the upholstery skills section.
Day 2: Upholstery Techniques
Introduction to upholstery materials and fabrics
Choosing appropriate upholstery fabric
Creating patterns and templates for upholstery
Padding, foam, and webbing techniques.
Cut, overlock and start sewing
Day 3: Final Assembly and Finishing
Finalising the upholstery and timber work
Attaching cushions and backrests
Quality control and adjustments

Bring: 2m of upholstery fabric.
Additional notes:
Fabric needs to be sourced before the commencement of the course. You can source your own upholstery grade fabric order it through us . Please check out our website which includes links to our favourite Fabric suppliers.
If you would like to see any samples, please get in touch and we will have them sent to your home. Please allow 2-3 weeks prior to the course for this process.
Alternatively, come 30 min early and purchase fabrics from us (limited choice)
Tea, coffee, water and biscuits will be provided during the workshop.
Pack your own lunch. We have a microwave and fridge in the workshop. Alternatively, there is a coffee shop in walking distance
Please wear appropriate clothing that may get dirty and enclosed shoes.
